Why Can’t We Write Our Own Game of Thrones

GAME-OF-THRONESWell Game of Thrones doesn’t require introduction but a large share of Indian Hollywood movie goers haven’t seen this spectacular HBO TV miniseries. It is a beautiful adaptation of the epic fantasy book the song of Ice and fire written by George R R Martin. The Game of Thrones is the name of TV miniseries, which takes you in the world of sword fighting, back stabbing and man to man wars. The funny thing about GoT is that when you reach in the Kingslanding you feel like seeing everything right from eyes. There are seven kingdoms to rule so everyone is fighting each other to win his name over others. But enough has been said about Game of Thrones so I will say why I brought you to here.

It’s an epic. It’s spectacular. It’s great but there’s a question. Why we Indian writers cannot write one such epic? I didn’t bring Ramayana and Mahabharata in this context because they are holy books. But with the great stories of our society why can’t we create something like GoT. I thought a lot and came to a conclusion. Here are they…please share your thoughts in comments section if you have ever thought about such things.

The God Connection
If I try to look back than I found Amish Tripathi with his best selling novel Immortals of Meluha. He has done something in this genre but than he linked it to lord shiva. The moment we link anything to god. The book become sacred and went out of practice. Literally, we have Ramayana, Mahabharat, and many other great books but there wisdom is waste. Because all the great deeds done in such are done by some god or the godly sons. So the perception develops that the capability of using book’s wisdom was only in God. None can practice them or question. So when I come to know that Amish Tripathi’s book is going to be adapted by Karan Johar in the film Shuddi, I was like happy until common movie goers told me about the film as bhagwan Shiv K Upar Ek Novel hai us par film ban rahi hai jisme Ranbeer Singh Kaam kar rha hai. The perception about the film shocked me. It killed the movie before it’s has reached the eyes of its watchers. But I believe film makers will do all to change the perception.

The Market Issue
It’s very important for the authors to sell books. And Indian audience love reading about love and give little thought to genres like thriller and fantasy. If you visit a bookstore the large majority of books will belong to college and office romance. So, it requires a great amount of courage to work on any such project.

Peace of Mind and Patience
Finally, I think the creation of such an epic requires peace of mind and patience. Sadly, our generation lacks both. So, it becomes impossible to do such things. Still I am earnestly looking for the epic fantasy novels written by Indian writers…

Happy blogging friends…

I have a problem with Chutzpah

Haider_Shahid_KapoorYes! I have a problem with the usage of the word ‘Chutzpah’ in this film, especially in the context of Indian army. It is appreciable to spread the word about the intense pain of residents of Kashmir valley. And why just Kashmir Valley, I would say the films should be made on the issue of farmers’ suicide. With power packed performances of Shahid Kapoor, Shradhha Kapoor, Tabu and many other supporting actors, the film turns out to be a reality. You seriously can’t sleep after watching the movie. The dialogs, command of actors in local lingua and different shades of acting of Haider is impeccable. So this is a must watch movie. For a student of cinema, it’s an important book that I will keep on reading. But let me tell you why I disliked the use of word Chutzpah.

What’s chutzpah – Why I hated It
Chutzpah is a word of Hebrew language, which means to do something audaciously and insolently. It is like being an aasteen ka saanp. But when it is being used in context of Indian establishment then I would like to ask from Vishal Sir that if AFPSA forces are doing Chutzpah then what happened with kashmiri pandits was not an act of chutzpah. When Kashmiri Muslims cheer and support Pakistani team during cricket matches with India isn’t an act of Chutzpah. When Kashmiri Muslims hoist Pakistani flag in lal Chauk isn’t an act of Chutzpah. Fair enough. All these things can be the means of keeping your morals high in a war torn state like Kashmir. I am also agree with what you show about Indian army. Kashmir is not New Delhi where everything will go in compliance with human rights. It’s a conflict zone. Things will certainly go wrong here or there. At times, the Jawans will get killed mercilessly and at times innocent lives will go in vain. The most important thing about Kashmir of Vishal Bharadwaj is the characters of Kashmir. There’s neither a villain nor a hero.  Everybody was playing one’s game to sustain and live in Kashmir. In Kashmir, the lifeline is treachery and shrewdness. So Chacha is right, Ghazala is right, Arshia is right, Doctor Sahib was right, Indian army is right and even militants are right.

Hidden Messages- I Thought They Are
In the scene of press conference, Ashish Vidhyarthi asks “jo Kashmiri refugee camps main rah rahe hain kya vo disappear kashmiri nahi hain.” For me, yes they also fall in the same line of 8000 disappeared residents of Kashmir valley. It stately defines the mindset of army working in adverse conditions. In another scene, the commanding officer says that the life of a Jawan worth more to him than a life of militant. It shows the frustration of army due to sudden departure of their comrades in conflicts. The final thing that I liked was the wise advice from the Old man “Intkaam sirf intkaam paida karta hai bête, jab tak hum apne intkaam se aajad nai hote, hum aajad hokar bhi gulam rahenge (vengeance only produces another vengeance and freeing from vengeance is the real freedom.)

Things I loved – I Surely Does
I loved the flawless acting of Shahid Kapoor in this movie. I admired him in the scene where he tells his mother about the death of Doctor Sahib. The funniest part of the movie was mimicry of Salman Khan. The two Salman Khans were really funny. Apart from this, I got the chance to see kids playing cricket in front of their homes and big houses of Kashmiri’s with heavy woodwork. I have read about this in my Our Moon has Blood Clots by Rahul Pandita. Lot of things were known to me but it was a nice them in the movie.

In the last, I would like to confess that the movie is good and one should watch it for the food to mind.

The Untouchable, Unnoticeable, The god and their state of love

I don’t know whether I am capable enough to write on this profound topic or not. But, it is just a daring effort of following the voice of my innerspring to write for The God and their state of Love. So as per my personal observation, all the human souls are transmitted on the face of earth with hidden individualistic reasons. as we grow in our lives, we learns the way of achieving such goals. Sometimes, in our sheer foolishness, we start naming the supernatural power instead of focusing on jobs but, we, humans cannot give a specific name to God and explore the cause of our existence. Moreover, we cannot illustrate creator’s motives through words and or activities. In current scenario, the most wandered souls are naming themselves as the true followers of religion and God. They strictly follow the teachings of ancient prophets, who have left written accounts of their spiritual understandings.

The Short Story Blog

Probably, all the ancient prophets might have experienced the omens of god and converted them in teachings for the good of peoples. We probably have misunderstood the teachings and mistakenly lost the connection of our soul from god. Soon after discovering the fire, human souls started revering the god because their religious books, dictated to do so. But, we forget the ways of recognizing our soul motives and started earning dollars, expending kingdoms and in having nuclear wars. Whatever, we do to convince that Supernatural Power like chanting mantras in temples or standing in long praying queues of devotees in the courtyard of abbeys, but nothing works out. The supernatural power does not need temples or the long queues of devotees. We all are transmitted to earth with an individual & peculiar reason and thus, the ultimate dyer incline us at significant points of time to understand our personal calling. So just try to feel the voice of your heart and follow the crucial omens in life. For our surprise, the God gives us the chance to enter in the world of possibilities through the door of true love. True Love breaks all the men made psychological, economical, & practical obstacles and let the souls enter in a state of free will. It is the chance to live an extra ordinary life and fulfill the expectations of our creator. But, we don’t know, when the true love will come and will be able to recognize our soul mates? Thus, we should always keep the doors of our hearts open to grant the entry of our most awaited soul mate and one day a soul will come and knock your door and will say, I will write love on your arm my love!
